Registered Nurse – Regional Queensland

- Seeking Registered Nurses for Mining sites in Regional Queensland
- Both permanent and temporary opportunities are available
Permanent roles will be living and working in a mining town. You will be provided with flights, transport and also accommodation including food in a mining camp site for a few weeks, while you settle in and find your own accommodation long term.
Temporary roles will be Fly-In Fly-Out (typically two weeks on and two weeks off). With the temporary roles, all fights, transport, accommodation and food is paid for.
Working hours are typically 8hrs per day (Monday to Friday) within a General Practice Medical Centre in a mining town. You will usually be working as the only RN with one Doctor and a medical receptionist. There will also be some requirements for you to cover as an RN on the mine site at short notice when required.
Predominately the Medical Centres:
- Conduct a lot of Coal Board Medicals for the local mines (this includes audiometry, blood pressure, eye vision and step test)
- Conduct drug and alcohol testing
- Take specimens and bloods for QML
- Provide day-to-day medical services for the community
- Conduct Immunisations
- Act as Emergency Centre for anyone requiring hospitalisation, while waiting to be picked up by QLD Ambulance and taken to hospital.
You must have:
- Strong experience as an RN (Current AHPRA registration)
- Immunisation Certificate
- Phlebotomy Certification and experience taking and processing bloods
- Valid driver’s licence
- Current First Aid Certificate
- A strong Health and Safety ethic
- Ability to work autonomously
- Intermediate level computer and database management skills
- Reliable self-starter
- Strong team player with good relationship building skills
Highly desirable:
- Experience working in a General Practice
- Previous experience working in a mining town would be advantageous
- Return to Work Coordinator Certificate (QLD)
- Solid understanding of injury classifications (LTI, MTI, RWC)
- Triage management experience
- Emergency Department experience or remote experience
- Current Advanced Life Support Certificate
- Drug and Alcohol Testing Certificate
- Current Coal Board Medical
- Standard 11 Safety Certificate
- Cert IV in Workplace Training
